FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!
Let's get one thing straight: cooking is not hard.
It's an art form that's done in everyday life, but it's not difficult. Recipes don't always need to be so complicated - simplicity is delicious too. Yes, the more ingredients you incorporate into a dish, the more flavour and overall body the dish will have, but you can always settle for simpler recipes and still love the end product because YOU made it.
"Easy Peasy Treats!" is a new food series I've decided to put together; it'll be dedicated to sharing with you the easy AF recipes that I've put together after being inspired by all the different recipes and food videos that I've encountered. Yay for inspiration!
Literally anyone can learn how to cook these tasty treats! I never cooked before I came to university and now I cook everyday!
So here it is: the first recipe that is easy peasy!
Note: I usually estimate or go with my gut feeling on most recipes so these are rough estimates. Adjust the recipes to how you like. These recipes can be seen as mere guidelines.

Totally Cheesy Twists
They're crunchy, tasty, cheesy, twisty... and soooo fun to make! These savoury cheese twists are perfect for accompanying your packed lunch, cheap and easy to bring to a picnic or simply delicious as a midday snack! You can easily make a vegan version too!
Ingredients:
3 cups of plain flour
175g butter
a splash of cold water
however much cheese you want - seriously, go crazy!
a pinch of salt
garlic granules (optional)
for garnish: parsley, more cheese (grated)!
Method:
3 cups of plain flour
175g butter
a splash of cold water
however much cheese you want - seriously, go crazy!
a pinch of salt
garlic granules (optional)
for garnish: parsley, more cheese (grated)!
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
- Put the flour, salt and a pinch of garlic granules (optional) into a mixing bowl and add the butter, then grated cheese. Use your clean hands to combine the ingredients together.
- Once they are mixed well together, add a splash of water and mix together with your hands again until it forms a dough. If the mixture is too sticky and wet, add a bit more flour.
- Sprinkle flour on a clean surface and a rolling pin and roll out the dough until it is around 2cm thick. It has to be thick enough so that it won't come apart when you twist them later.
- Slice the sheet of dough into thin strips that are 2cm wide. To avoid any leftover strips, make sure there are an even number of strips all together.
- Pair up the strips and twist them together! You can do this however you want - experiment with it! They don't have to look all the same. Play around a little. This is YOUR creation - so be creative!
- Line a baking tray with foil or greaseproof paper and brush some oil or butter onto the tray. One by one carefully place the twists onto the tray and sprinkle with parsley and more cheese! This will make the really nice golden pattern on the twists - yummy!
- Bake for 10 mins on 200 degrees. Time and temperature will depend on your oven so remember to keep checking on them every few minutes!
- Leave them to cool and enjoy!
